My kids actually asked questions after we read this one, which never happens. The part where Maminata has to decide how to spend what her brother left her opened up a whole conversation about saving versus spending. The English text is simple enough for my 7-year-old to follow along on her own.

I picked this up for my son after he started asking about money, and the story of Maminata saving what her brother sends before he leaves for Canada made the idea of spending wisely click for him. It's a short English read, so we finished it in one sitting and then talked about it for way longer.
