Set of 22 mini-magazines, including 2 special editions featuring Véronic Dicaire and brothers Jonathan and David Toews.

Featuring youth profiles and themes central to Kanata : je suis ici.
Each mini-mag includes:

  • the introduction of a young person and the basic vocabulary of the mini-mag through a photo-story
  • the young author presenting a family activity that is important to him/her
  • an adult from the family making connections between the  present, past and future
  • a more complex informative text providing other relevant info for this activity

Different reading levels

Each mini-mag features texts with increasing levels of difficulty. This gives students the support they need to gradually improve their language proficiency. Teachers can use the kit to introduce all class students to the same content while taking into consideration each student's particular skill set.

  • Specialized language
  • The mini-mags present different writing styles, including narrative, informative, entertaining and  poetic.

Each mini-mag approaches specialized language in its own way, given that it deals with a subject that is of interest to its young author and his/her family but which may be completely new to the reader. Narrative and informative texts acquaint readers with new topics by presenting specialized terms in an accessible, easy-to-understand way.

    Alexander ★★★★★

Didn't expect 22 little magazines for this price. The two special editions on Véronic Dicaire and the Toews brothers are the ones I keep rereading, and they're short enough to finish in one sitting.

    Scarlett C. ★★★★★

I picked these up to keep my French reading sharp, and the two special editions on Véronic Dicaire and the Toews brothers ended up being my favourite of the 22. Each mini-magazine is short enough to finish in one sitting, which makes the whole set feel less like homework.

    James M. ★★★★★

These little magazines are the perfect length for my French tutoring sessions — short enough to finish in one sitting, but the articles still gave us plenty to talk about. The two special editions on Véronic Dicaire and the Toews brothers were the ones my students kept reaching for first.
