Paul invites Suzanne to go “pretend” mountain climbing. A hike up a rocky slope becomes a morning-to-night expedition up a mountain. Paul celebrates making it to the top by pretending that he is an eagle in his mountaintop nest.

Violet ★★★★★

I didn't expect a simple French reader to feel this much like an actual climb, but the way the slope keeps going until nightfall genuinely made me tense. My kid asked to read the ending twice, which never happens.

Richard K. ★★★★★

The hike turning into a full morning-to-night expedition caught me off guard in the best way. My kid now asks to "climb the mountain" every night, and the French vocabulary sticks because the story is actually fun.

Evelyn ★★★★★

The way the story builds from a short hike into a full mountain expedition kept my students engaged all the way through the morning-to-night timeline.
