I've been using this alongside the Counting on Each Other book with my third graders, and the way it ties one story into multiple subjects means I'm not scrambling for filler activities anymore. The discussion prompts alone sparked a 20-minute conversation I wasn't expecting.

The cross-subject lesson ideas saved me so much planning time — I mapped one chapter across reading and social studies in a single afternoon. My fourth graders stayed engaged through the whole unit, which rarely happens with a guide this thin.

I used the discussion questions from this guide as a warm-up for my third graders, and they went way deeper into the story than I expected. Having the activities split by subject saved me hours of planning since I teach both reading and social studies.
